The Herb Brooks Foundation will sponsor a six
day hockey camp for 40 of the top 15 year olds in the state of
Minnesota. OPPORTUNITY for something new
A major goal is to educate our youth coaches on new ideas for training
and development. The youth coaches will be allowed to participate with
the head coaches at practice, dryland, and games. There will also be a
clinic session from 8 to 10 PM, which will involve formal presentations
and casual-personal inter-action. Lou Vairo from USA Hockey will also
assist at these seminars.
Minnesota Hockey will also be sending hockey association leaders and
coaching coordinators to participate in program activities throughout
the week.
Herb Brooks was a great student of European hockey philosophy and skill
development. It is interesting that USA Hockey is currently developing
new youth development programs designed from European research. This
should be an exciting experience for players and coaches alike; as it
will be something they have not been given a chance to experience in the
past. This camp is a definition of our mission! Learning new development
concepts, and making the game more exciting, will be the central goal of
this camp!
• All Minnesota Select 15 candidates will all be eligible to register.
• The forty selected applicants will be notified by May 15. Please apply
early.
• Those players not accepted will receive a refund of the fee paid to
the credit card used at application; all refunds will be completed no
later than May 20.
• There will be a waiting list for the camp until June 22.
• Selected players will report each day at 9:45 am to the Herb Brooks
Training Center at the National Sports Center in Blaine.
• Full hockey equipment each day, including equipment bag, dryland
training clothes and athletic shoes, is required. No sandals or shower
shoes permitted.
PROGRAM FEATURES
• Each team will be coached by international coaches from the Czech
Republic and assisted by a WCHA head coach.
• Players will experience a European model of hockey development.
• Skating and skill development, related dryland training and various
competitive games.
• Players will have a unique experience in participating with new
activities and philosophies.
• Evening meal at the National Sports Center included in player fee.
• In-state players will billet outstate players.
