“The mission of the Herb Brooks Foundation is to grow the game of hockey,” said HBF President Ross Bernstein. “The best way to accomplish that goal is to support community grassroots events like the Vadnais Sports Center Open House.”

Here is the full open house schedule:

2-4 p.m.: Open Programs -- tennis ball hockey, open skating (BYO skates), touch football, soccer, batting cages, fitness workouts, yoga.

4-4:15 p.m.: Opening Ceremony

4:10-5 p.m.: Learn to Skate Clinic, by the Herb Brooks Foundation.

4:15-5:45 p.m.: Open Programs – open dome, self-guided tours, free cupcakes, fitness center information session, yoga information session.

5-6 p.m.: Meet and Greet with Nordy, the Minnesota Wild mascot.

5:10-6 p.m.: Power Skating Clinic, by the Herb Brooks Foundation.

5:15-6:15 p.m.: Zamboni rides.

6:30 p.m.: Showing of the movie “Miracle,” presented by the Herb Brooks Foundation. Hosted by Herb Brooks’ son Dan and 1980 Olympic team player Rob McClanahan.

About the Vadnais Sports Center

Ramsey County purchased and took over operation of Vadnais Sports Center on June 30, 2014.

 Built in 2010, Vadnais Sports Center is a state-of-the-art sports complex that features two NHL regulation-size hockey rinks and a 100,000 square feet sports dome. A wide range of ice and turf programs and activities are offered through community programming partners.  

Vadnais Sports Center is home to the White Bear Lake Girls and Boys hockey teams and the Mounds View Boys hockey team.

Founded in 2003 by Dan Brooks and Kelly Brooks Paradise, Herb’s family and friends created the foundation to preserve his legacy by continuing his life’s work of growing the game by “making hockey fun for kids and letting them learn to love the game the way we did.” 

The Herb Brooks Foundation is based in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota. The Foundation has offices at the National Sports Center in Blaine, where they manage the Herb Brooks Training Center at the Schwan Super Rink, a dry land hockey training facility that fulfills the priority that Herb Brooks placed on dry land training.
