The Chippewa Valley Girls Hockey Association (CVGHA) from Wisconsin and Corban Willis from Mounds View are the 2019 Herb Brooks Foundation Scholarship Award winners.

The Chippewa Valley Girls Hockey Association is a girls only hockey association located in the region around Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The association co-ops with Chippewa Falls and Menomonie to ensure as many girls can have the chance to play hockey as possible.

With over 40 players in the association, they will use the funds awarded to them to run summer training sessions for all players ages U10 to U14.

Corban Willis is a current participant in the Herb Brooks Foundation's year round clinics. At just 6 years old, Corban loves playing hockey all the time. He has been constantly improving on the ice and loves feeling the wind on his face when he skates around. Corban is determined to get better on and off the ice and already knows some important life lessons that hockey has taught him. When asked what hockey has taught him about life Corban responded, "Listening makes me better."

Corban will put the funds towards a summer skills camp in order to improve his skating ability and continue to work on his other hockey skills such as stickhandling, passing, and shooting.
