Nearly 80% of construction businesses are lacking enough qualified skilled labor to complete the jobs they have under contract. In the last economic downturn, between 2006-2011, the construction industry lost 2.3 million jobs due to the lack of available work. Unfortunately, many skilled workers left the industry during that time and found other jobs, never returning.
RJM believes in the importance of partnerships and that starts by supporting vocational schools and apprenticeship programs. Offering financial support to students interested in the building trades will build the workforce and better our communities.
This scholarship is awarded to high school or college age students who are actively involved with hockey. It is targeted to those interested in pursing a career in the building trades.
