St. paul winter clinics

We hosted our 2022 St. Paul Winter Clinics at Charles M. Schulz - Highland Arena on Wednesday nights in January and February. During the 6-week duration, we split into two groups - Learn to Skate and Learn to Play Hockey. Learn to Skate aims to teach the fundamentals of skating while gradually introducing different elements of hockey and is geared towards participants ages 4-9. Learn to Play Hockey is geared toward those who already have a skating foundation and are looking to learn or improve their hockey skills and is geared towards participants ages 8-13. Additionally, we had the Hill Murry Boys High School Hockey team help out on the ice one session. The kids had a blast and we are looking forward to our 2022 Spring Clinics.

Minneapolis outdoor Rink Rats

The Herb Brooks Foundation Rink Rats program provides opportunities for children at Minneapolis schools to learn the basics of the game of hockey and skating at local outdoor ice rinks. The program introduces participants to skating and hockey in a safe and fun environment under the direction of professional HBF coaches. The program is offered to all all 2nd-6th grade students and it is aimed at kids who wouldn't normally be exposed to the game. Rink Rats is held immediately before/after school for 6 weeks throughout January and February. This year, the Herb Brooks Foundation teamed up with Sonnesyn Elementary, Waite Park Elementary, and Seward Elementary.

Friday Night Lights League

The Herb Brooks Foundation and the DinoMights partnered to create a “Friday Night Lights” girls league. For 6 consecutive Friday Nights from 7:00-8:00pm, a handful of girls joined us at the Billy Lindsay Dinomights Ice Rink Arena in south Minneapolis. The DinoMights provided transportation for all of the girls in one of their vans along with a heated trailer we were lucky enough to use as a warming house/locker room. The last two weeks the DinoMights girls scrimmaged against the Minneapolis Park Board Team Hiawatha and Minneapolis Park Board Team Pearl Park Penguins which made for a special last few weeks.

st. cloud learn to skate sessions

For the second year, the Herb Brooks Foundation has partnered with the Community Engagement Division from the Saint Cloud Police Department to offer skating lessons to the kids of the St. Cloud Boys and Girls Club. There were many helping hands and smiling faces! We are so happy to share such a great relationship with the St. Cloud Police Department that dedicates their time and effort to make these  opportunities possible for the kids. All of the participants were able to go home with a Herb Brooks Holiday Classic hat. We look forward to this spring as we plan to give these kids more opportunities on the ice!
