HBF participating in World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend

The Herb Brooks Foundation (HBF) is proud to support World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend October 10-11, 2015. HBF Program Director Amy Alt will lead a power skating session this Saturday, October 10, from 1:45-2:45 p.m. at the Chaska Community Center location.

World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend is a worldwide program sponsored by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF), USA Hockey and Minnesota Hockey. The weekend is designed to honor the massive strides that have been taken in both participation and player development for girls' hockey, while providing new families an opportunity to get involved.

The 2015 World Girls’ Ice Hockey Weekend marks the fifth year of the event which plays a key role in keeping girls’ hockey on track as one of the fasting growing sports in the world. Last year, there were more than 340 events spanning 32 countries, including 147 in the U.S. and 19 in Minnesota.

The Chaska event will feature a full day of educational activities including on-ice sessions as well as off-ice sessions on such topics as nutrition, yoga, and strength and agility training.

The weekend's festivities presents the perfect opportunity for new girls and families to try hockey in a fun and safe environment while learning more about their local association, as well as encouraging the girls currently playing hockey to celebrate their passion for the game.

Here are the locations across Minnesota that will hold Girls Hockey Day activities on October 10: Albert Lea, Apple Valley, Bemidji, Chaska, Delano, Fergus Falls, Forest Lake, Mankato, Moorhead, New Ulm, Northfield, Park Rapids, Sartell, Sibley, St. Francis, St. Peter, Two Harbors, Waseca and Worthington.
